SINOSSI
Tratto da un classico del più famoso romanziere portoghese, Camilo Castelo Branco, “I misteri di Lisbona” è una grande traversata dell’Europa sull’onda delle vicende che ruotano attorno alle figure dell’orfano João e di Padre Dinis, narratore che attraversa il tempo come una sorta di entità sovrannaturale. Sullo sfondo la Lisbona del XIX secolo, dove prendono vita, in un turbine di flashback e continui salti temporali, una serie di storie incrociate e circolari fatte d’intrighi, misteri e amori proibiti.

SYNOPSIS
Based on Portuguese novelist Camilo Castelo Branco’s most famous classic, “The Mysteries of Lisbon” is a grand tour of Europe in the wake of the events involving the characters of the orphan João and Father Dinis, a narrator that seems to be travelling through time like some sort of supernatural entity. The backdrop is a 19th century Lisbon where a series of circular stories made of intrigues, mysteries and forbidden loves interweave in a whirlwind of flashbacks and continuous jumps in time.

Raoul Ruiz - Regista
Nasce a Puerto Montt il 25 luglio del 1941. Comincia a studiare teologia, ma già giovanissimo capisce che la sua grande passione è il cinema. Nel 1960 il Dipartimento di Cinema Sperimentale produce la sua prima opera “La Maleta”. Nel 1968 Ruiz gira “Tres Tristes Tigres”, film che vince il Pardo d’Oro al Festival di Locarno e rende famoso il suo nome in tutto il mondo. Con la salita la potere di Pinochet, il regista cileno è costretto ad abbandonare il suo paese natio. Troverà rifugio in Francia, dove continuerà la sua attività di regista a fianco della moglie, montatrice di tutti i suoi film. Tra le sue pellicole più importanti ci sono “Le tre corone del marinaio”, “La città dei pirati”, “Genealogia”, “Il tempo ritrovato”.

Raoul Ruiz - Director
Born in Puerto Montt on July 25, 1941, he began studying theology but understood his true vocation was cinema already at an early age. In 1960 the Department of Experimental Cinema produced his first feature, “La Maleta.” In 1968 Ruiz directed “Three Sad Tigers” a film, which earned him the Pardo d’Oro at the Locarno Festival and shot him to fame on a worldwide scale. With Pinochet in power, the Chilean director was forced to abandon his country of birth and find refuge in France where he continued to direct next to his wife and editor of all his films. “Three Crowns of the Sailor,” “City of Pirates,” “Genealogies of Crime” and “Time Regained” are some of his most important films.
