We would like to invite the submission
of abstracts for efilp-2017.
A língua companheira do império?
Espaços formais e informais da língua portuguesa (sécs. XVI a XX)
(efilp-2017) will take place at the University of Tuscia, Italy, on
February 2nd -3rd 2017. We request that abstracts for individual
papers are submitted before November 21st, 2016.
We would welcome any historical,
anthropological, literal and linguistic research concerning the
dynamics of the expansion of the Portuguese language and culture
around the world from the Modern Era to the 20th century.
Aiming to document the effects and the
impacts of Portuguese culture and language on the world defined by
the formal and informal spaces of the empire, the congress intends to
examine the knowledge of the world from the Modern Age up until the
20th century, both in textual (reports, dictionaries, grammars, etc.)
and non-textual (variety of languages of oral transmission) forms. By
studying and analysing the dissemination of Portuguese, both from a
synchronic and a diachronic perspective, as well as the historical
reconstruction of the trajectories of the expansion of the language,
the congress also intends to debate on the way the study of the past
may help to better interpret the present, characterized by the new
dynamics of the circulation of individuals and groups.
Considering the multidisciplinarity of
this meeting, we encourage the submission of abstracts concerning the
historical, social, cultural and linguistic effects derived from the
interaction between Portuguese and the rest of the world starting
from the Modern Era onwards.

limited to the following:
